Wins Basketball Tourney
It was a picturesque sunny
day at north Portland's Unthank

The one-on-one basketball
tournament is comprised of quali
fiers all over the globe, with the
top 64 players advancing to the
finals held in The Yard on the
island of Alcatraz, Calif, on Sept.
24, the only official sporting ever
held on the Alcatraz, and hosted
by basketball superstar Rajon
Rondo.
Kevin Ford II of Portland and
James Thom of Tacoma, earned
invites to the finals.

League championship will begin
on Saturday, July 2. Local teams
represented in the tournament
include Parkrose, Peninsula,
Rose City, Lakeside, Hollywood,
and W ilshire-Riverside.Eachof
of all ages
the teams participating will play
four games throughout the tour-
nament, which will come to an
end on Friday, July 7.
The firstgam e will begin at 10
a.m. on Saturday between Rose
City and Clatskanie.
