Reggae and Funk, Downtown
The thought-provoking Jamai­
can reggae duo Dubtonic Kru
with drummer “Jubba” (joo-ah)
and bassist “Stone,” will mes­
merize audiences on Friday July,
1 at T ed’s downtown, rolling out
eclectic songs and spoken words
from their award-winning Roots
Reggae mixes.
Sharing the stage will be the
southeast Portland reggae and
funk band, Outpost. The inde­
pendent five-member band is
forging a new direction for North­
west reggae music, blending the
dance grooves of reggae, ska
and funk with the fire of under­
ground hip-hop.

loved fictional books and
blockbuster film series.
The exhibition will show
through Sept. 25, and tick­
ets are $2 with regular museum admission.
Movies in the Park -- All summer long, Portland’s
neighborhood parks will host free films from recent hits
to classics. Weather permitting, films begin at dark (8
p.m. - 8:45 pm), with pre-movie entertainment featuring
local bands starting at 6:30 p.m. Rainouts will be called
at 5 p.m. Upcoming showings: The Social Network on
Friday, July 1 at Multnomah Arts Center, and The Blind
Slide on Saturday, July 2 at Harrison Park. For complete

their 99th annual Summer Reading program. Studies
