The Office o f Human Relations, 5315
N. V ancouver A ve., invites the p ub
lic to view T he H ouse W e Live In
and engage in dialogue after the
film.
The last episode in this aw arding
w inning series is the first film about
race to focus not on individual atti
tudes and behavior but on the w ays
o u r institutions and policies ad v an
tage som e groups at the expense o f
oth ers.
Its su b ject is the "unm arked"
race: w hite people. W e see how
benefits quietly and often invis
ibly accrue to w hite people, not
necessarily because o f m erit or
hard w ork, but because o f the
racialized nature o f our laws, courts,
custom s, and perhaps m ost perti
nently, housing.
