Cinder Block, the lead character ofTriffle'seccentric musical, is learn­ ing French on her Rosetta Stone tapes when the voice on the tape tells her to do strange things. “Take your clothes o ff...m ak e me a sandwich and place it on the porch ...ru n around naked!” Says the voice on the tape, and then asks her to go to her basement where C inder discovers a dead body. To unravel the mystery. Cinder is joined by Detective Ink Blot, and it doesn't take long before the mur­ ders, and even the dead body, joins in on the tilted narrative and comic songs. SPLAT, is the fifth play in Carol T riffle’s series o f whim sical, off- kilter musicals examining smal 1 mo- ments and large tragedies in the comedic turmoil of a lead heroine. The play continues Triffle’s un­ conventional, non-linear approach to comedy and theatre, where things are never played out as expected, and song is interspersed not to ac­ cent the action, but more to flip it over. A lberta St. Loughry is a nationally recog­ nized horticulture and landscape photographer based in Portland. Her work has been widely pub­ lished in books and m agazines. With a background in graphic d e sig n a n d 3 -D a n im a tio n , Brandhorst has returned to his roots as a fine artist and now spe­ cializes in paintings and colored pencil. A resident of M ilepost 5, an artists’ com m unity in north­ east Portland, he has collaborated with Loughrey on digital photog­ raphy projects since 2005.
