Ceasefire Oregon is sponsoring
two local events where the public is
invited to watch the documentary
"Living for 32" and participate in a
discussion of gun violence with
Colin Goddard, a shooting survivor
of the Virginia Tech Massacre.
On a snow y, w indy day in
Blacksburg, Va., in 2007, a mentally-
ill gunman locked the doors of Norris
Hall at Virginia Tech University and
proceeded to go room-to-room,
shooting students and professors.
Forty-nine people were shot. Thirty-
two of them died. Then the gunman
shot himself to death.
One of those wounded was a 21 -
year-old named Colin Goddard.
Goddard played a unique role in the
horrific drama that played out on
that blustery April day: he was the
only person within the building to
call the police.
Urged by his French professor to
dial 911 as the crackle of gunfire
came closer to the door of their
classroom, Goddard made the call,
then the gunman burst into the room.
Colin was shot four times and still
has three of those bullets in him.
Living for 32 is a powerful and
thought-provoking documentary
about Goddard and his efforts to
bring awareness to the issue of gun
violence in America.
In the film, he examines his change
in thought about guns in America
as he recovered from his wounds,
discusses what it is like to be a
