Educator fosters
love of Christ

is presented in recognition o f lead­
ership and com m itm ent to fostering
the love o f C hrist through ecu m en i­
cal dialogue, w itness and m inistry.
A native P ortlander, B oozer has
served the local com m unity as an
ed u cato r and a priest o f the E pisco­
pal C hurch.
She w orked 26 years as a teacher,
co u n selo r and adm inistrator for the
P ortland school district, retiring as
principal o f Jefferson H igh School
in 1997. From 1993 until M ay o f 2010,
she served as the rector o f St. Philip
the D eacon in Portland. Past as­
signm ents include assisting priest
at G race M em orial and St. Stephen
in Portland; vicar at Em anuel in
B ir k e n f e ld , S t. A u g u s tin e in
C latskanie, and St. John the B aptist
in Portland; and dean and chaplain
o f the U pper School at O regon Epis­
copal School.
Past diocesan service includes
the D iocesan C ouncil; and she c u r­
rently serves on the C om m ission to
End Racism .
In the com m unity. B oozer has
served as a m em ber o f the M etro ­
politan T ri-C ounty B oard o f D irec­
tors and Loaves and Fishes Board
o f D irectors. D uring the 1980s, she
served her first term on the EM O

Celebration of Life
A celebration of life will be
held one year after the tragic
death of Keaton O tis, 25, who
was shot and killed by Port­
land police during a traffic
stop,
The memorial celebration,
which will be held Thursday,
M ay 12, at 6 p.m . at the
M iracles Club located at 4069
N.E. M artin Luther King Jr.
Blvd.
D iagnosed with a mental
illness, O tis’ parents, Joseph
and Felesia Otis, were trying
to get their son help at the
time of his death on May 12,

Shortly after the incident, they expressed hope their son’s
death can help lead to reform s in the m ental health system.

nicknam e w as O ddie. H e w as a m em ber o f Life C hange
C hristian C en ter under P astor M ark Strong. His hobbies
w ere fishing and cooking. He w orked at Pert H aven Rest
H om e as a cook. H e w as fam ily m an and an excellent
grandfather. Preceding him in death w ere his parents, A nnie
Jenkins and E lm os Lee Jen k in s Sr.; a brother, Sam uel Ray
Jenkins, and a sister, B ettie Jean Jenkins. Survivors include
tw o daughters, A nnie Lee Jenkins and M em ory Kim Strong;
a son Je ff Jenkins; brothers R obert L. R obinson, W illie L
R obinson, Leroy R obinson, C harles J. Jenkins, B obby R.
Jenkins, and R usty J. Jenkins; sisters M artha L. Jenkins,
M ary S. Jenkins, C lara A. Jenkins and P am ela Jenkins; eight
grandchildren; and a host o f nieces and nephew s.
