Port hind Police is asking for the public's
help in solving three recent armed robber­
ies at the Wells Fargo ATM on Northeast
42nd Avenue and Going Street.
On Feb. 3, Feb. 6, and Feb. 9, an armed
suspect demanded money from people
using the automated teller machine. All
three robberies occurred between 6:30 p.m.
and 10:30 p.m. In each case, the suspect
approached the victim from behind and
displayed a handgun after the victims
have started to use the ATM
The suspect is described as a white
male in his early 20s, about 5 foot 8 to 6 feet
tall, with a thin build.
Wells Fargo is offering a reward of up
to $3,000 for information leading to the
arrest and conviction of this robbery sus­
pect.
Anyone with information is urged to
call police at 503-823-4357.

Driving 140 mph for YouTube
A man who filmed the speedom­
eter of his car while driving more
than 140 miles per hour so he could
post it on YouTube, ended up in jail
and the video confiscated, police
said.
Stanislav Vadimovich Bakanov
was pulled over by police on 1-5 near
Salem on Feb. 12 after he was clocked
driving his black 2005 BMW at 118
mph.
He told police he was filming his
speedometer, and his arrest, to post
on Youtube. The video later revealed
that Bakanov had attained speeds
in excess of 140 mph.
He was arrested and charged with
reckless driving and speeding. The
video was confiscated and will be
used as evidence against him.
Workshop on Tax Issues, Rights
The Center for Intercultural Or­
ganizing, 700 N. Killingsworth St.,
will be hosting a free "Know Your
Rights and Responsibilities" work­
shop on tax issues on Saturday,
Feb. 26 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Jennifer Woodhouse, an attor­
ney with Legal Aid Services of Or-
egon, will lead the discussion on
topics that include who has to file
tax returns, how to file, how to chose
a good tax preparer, how to avoid tax
scams, basics about dependents and
tax credits, and how to make sure .
