When Eve Crane walked into
the A 'K asha G allery in
Beaverton with her portfolio,
owner Steve Smith said he felt
like he was looking at buried
treasure.
Crane's stunning black-and-
white images take us inside some
of the 1960's most intimidating
groups. She relied on her good
eye, great timing and well-con
nected friends, like Black Pan
ther leader Eldridge Cleaver, to
tell her what was going on and
where, so she could go there and
take photos.
With subjects like the Hell's
Angels, Huey Newton, Bobby
Seals and David Hilliard, her
photos reveal the heady excite
ment of turbulent times. Forty
years later, Eve herself is the
subject of a retrospective.

Reuse Art:
Masks of Incognito
A group o f guest artists have
created masks of reclaimed materi
als as part o f a masquerade gala
fundraiser for the local recycling
and reuse organization SCRAP.
Masks of Incognito represent the
innovation and variety inspired by
artists ’ use of reclaimed and recycled
materials. Transforming discarded
materials such as leather scraps and
zippers, milk jugs and metal springs,
vintage piano keys and clock parts
into masks, the 25 artists have cre
ated works to transform the face and
character of a mask wearer.
The masks will be on display in
SCRAP’S R ev isio n Gallery, 2915

Jackson Videos Coming Out
(AP) -- Michael Jackson's com
plete library o f videos is being re
stored and rereleased, as well as a
never-released clip for his song
"One More Chance."
The "Michael Jackson's Vision"
boxed set is due out on Nov. 22 and
includes 4 1 /2 hours worth of mate
rial, including the full version of
"Black or White," which was cut
short after its initial release due to
violent imagery and Jackson's gyra
tions.
Jackson made a short film for the
song "One More Chance," but it
was never released. He was charged
with sexual molestation in 2003, right
around the time the single was re-
Michael Jackson
leased. He was acquitted in that
case.
O ther videos include Martin
Scorsese (Scor-say-zee)-directed
"Bad" and his most famous video,
"Thriller."
