The Brothers o f the Baladi will
perform music from their Grammy
nominated CD, Just Do What’s
Right. One of Portland’s finest

The Brothers of the Baladi are
noted as a great dance band that
covers Arabic, Turkish, Persian,

PDX Jazz, the presenting orga­
nization of the Alaska Airlines/
Horizon Air Portland Jazz Festival
presented by U.S. Bank, an­
nounces the debut appearance of
bassist/composer Avishai Cohen.
The Te, Aviv-based recording
artist is set to perform at the
Winningstad Theater on Satur­
day, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m.
Cohen will make his Portland
area debut as a leader in support
of his latest project, Aurora. The
works represent a certain essence
of expression, as Cohen uses
voice as a direct and powerful
vehicle for his emotions.
Singing in Hebrew, English,
Spanish and Ladino, the music
intersects at the crossroads of
many cultures, Arab-Andalusian
and Hebraic. It tells the story of
