Amtrak Run to B.C. in Jeopardy The Washington State Depart ment o f Transportation and mem bers o f Congress are having discus sions with British Columbia offi cials about Canada’s decision to impose border fees that will force the cancellation o f the second daily A m trak C a sc ad e s tra in to Vancouver, B.C. The Canadian government re cently said it would require WSDOT to pay nearly $550,000 a year for border-clearance services. This money would cover additional staff ing by the Canada Border Services Agency for the 10:50 p.m. second- train arrival. “I am extremely disappointed that Canada has taken this counterpro ductive and harmful action against W ashington state passengers," said U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, D- Wash. "This new fee will hurt our state and it will reduce cross-border economic activity that helps both countries. I will be monitoring this situation closely and I urge Canada to reconsider this decision." The second Amtrak Cascades train service has been operating as a pilot project since Aug. 19,2009, while the Canadian government evaluated the level o f incoming traf fic to Vancouver and whether addi tional fees would be necessary for ongoing customs services. Service by the second train to V ancouver has been extended through Oct. 31 and reservations can now be made for travel through that date. Amtrak Cascades operates three daily round trips between Portland and Seattle; one daily round trip between Seattle and Vancouver, B.C., and one between Portland and Vancouver, B.C.; and daily service between Eugene and Seattle, via Portland. B y M a y a A n g e lo u A hater is som eone who is jealous and envious and spends all their time trying to make you look sm all so they can look tall. They are very negative people to say the least. W e’ve all got som e haters am ong us! Some people envy you because you can: a) Have a relationship with God b) Light up a room when you walk in c) Start your own business d) Tell a m an/wom an to hit the curb (if he/she isn’t about the right thing) e) you are a strong person and don’t let people run you over f) you have a strong & loving m arriage and they can ’t get in-between spouses to spoil it Haters can't stand to see you happy. Haters will never want to see you succeed. Most o f our haters are people who are supposed to be on our side (like som e family and friends). How do you handle your undercover haters? You can handle these haters by: 1. Knowing who you are & who your true friends are *(VERY IMPORTANT!!) 2. Having a purpose to your life: Purpose does not mean having a job. You can have a jo b and still be unfulfilled. A purpose is having a clear sense o f what God has called you to be. Your purpose is not defined by what others think about you. 3. By rem em bering that what you have is by divine prerogative and not human manipulation. Fulfill your dreams! You only have A one life to live...when it’s your time to leave this earth, you want to be able to say, ‘I ’ve lived my life and fulfilled my dream s, Now I’m ready to go HOME! W hen God gives you favor, you can tell your haters, ‘D on’t look at me... Look at who is in charge o f me.... Pass this to all o f your fam ily & friends who you know are not hating on you includ ing the person who sent it to you. If you d o n ’t get it back, m aybe you called som e body out!
