A schedule with planting dates and deadlines is at FriendsofTrees.org/Calendar. What good things grow on trees? Conservation: Tree shade can help cut your energy costs by 35 percent during the summer. Health: Trees clean our air, water, and soil for an all-around healthier city. Community: Tree-lined streets calm and slow traffic. This creates safer neigh borhoods and happier people. And yes, even money grows on trees! Planting trees on your property can add $7,000 to the value o f your home. Since 1989, Friends o f Trees has planted hundreds o f thousands o f trees and native plants in the Portland-metro area. North and northeast Portland residents can now buy trees for their homes for only $35 to $75 thanks to Friends o f Trees. As part o f the non-profit’s new “Plant it Portland” campaign, the discounted prices for the trees include the wholesale price o f the tree, delivery, hole digging, planting assistance, stakes, and follow-up mainte nance checks. Y ou'll also be invited to join a neighborhood potluck after the planting. Plantings are already scheduled in the A rbor L odge, O verlook, P iedm ont, Woodlawn, Boise, Eliot, Humboldt, King, Kenton, Portsmouth, Cathedral Park, St. Johns, University Park, Alameda, Irvington, Sabin, Grant Park, Madison South, Rose City Park, Concordia and Vernon neigh borhoods. Nursery stock trees are ready for planting. Ml JOIN US!
