Olivet Baptist Church in north Portland. She was bom Jan. 11, 1956 in Portland, the daughter of Willie T. and Jacqueline E. Cherry, and the third sibling of six children. She at­ ten d ed P e n in su la E le m e n tary School, Jefferson High School and in 1974 she received her GED from Manpower Job Corp. As a child she loved to play as kids do, have fun and socialize with her friends. She loved to cook, espe­ cially for her grandchi ldren and their friends. She would attend their games no matter where they were playing and cheer them on to the end. She loved her children and would do anything for them. She was bom Oct. 5,1954toJoe and Elsie Flowers (Weaver) in Portland. Always the arts enthusiast, she found profound enjoyment through various forms of dance and ice skating. She also was a member of a local Brownie troop and always had a love for animals. Joann graduated from Ulysses S. Grant High School in 1973. During “God The Father”; “God The Son”; and “God The Holy Spirit” her tenure, she was a member of their championship track and field team. She led Grant to state cham pionships and held various state and school records during her time in- eluding the 4 x 400 and the longjump record which was only broken a few years ago. In 1980 she began her 28-year career at Steinfeld’s Pickles where she worked in several positions including su­ pervisory roles until its closure in 2008. She is survived by her sons, Suntory Robertson of Seattle and Joseph Robertson of Phoenix; her father of Phoenix and mother of Portland; her grandchildren, Jordan Gregory ‘Coach’ Berry Sunrise: Nov. 18,1955 Sunset: Aug. 2,2010 It is with loving memory we be­ reave the passing of our beloved brother, Gregory R. “Coach” Berry. Greg was bom Nov. 18, 1955 to the late Robert Edward Williams and Mary A. (Ashby) Berry in Galesburg, 111. He was the fourth of six children. He departed this life on Monday, Aug. 2,2010. He graduated in 1973 from Galesburg Senior High School. In 1980, he joined his family here in Portland, where he made his home until his passing.
