Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., is hosting its fifth annual Authentic Creole Jambalaya Dinner on Saturday, Aug. 14, from noon to 5 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by DJ Chicago Dave, along with other musicians and dancers. The culinary team is headed by the Loaves & Fishes’ Teletha Ben­ jamin and Joan Smith, both o f whom have connections to southern Louisiana. The pair will be using a tradi­ tional Creole-style recipe passed down in Teletha’s family. The event raises needed funds to help serve hot meals to seniors in northeast Portland. “The daily menu at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center has evolved to include a variety o f soul food entrées,” said David Lomax, the manager o f the Loaves & Fishes center. “The food has received such good reviews that we decided to make it available to the general public for one special night. We guarantee a sumptuous feast to delight the tastebuds!” The menu includes authentic Creole-style jambalaya (a non-seafood version is available), along with bread, salad, beverage and dessert. Cost is $ 10 for adults, $7 for children and $25 for a family ticket for four. Tickets are available from the center. Meals are available for take-out.
