This docu mentary tells a different side o f the story - one that captures broader national trends in community men tal health services. Through footage shot at the hospital and interviews with pa tients and staff, the film shows how these patients had fallen deep into troubled waters before being caught in the raggedy "safety net" o f jails, courts, and, finally, the state hospi tal. And in following the compelling stories o f these patients, the docu mentary also tells a disturbing tale o f political neglect and public para noia concerning the mentally ill.
