Area residents are invited to enjoy the unique black
music of coastal Peru when the Gabriel Alegria Afro
Peruvian Sextet performs at Mt. Hood Community
College, Monday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the College
Theatre.
The benefit concert will raise funds for the MHCC
Jazz Band and the David Douglas High School Band
which will also perform.
Tickets are $ 10 in advance and $ 12 at the door for
adults; $5 in advance and $7 at the door for students.
Tickets can be purchased at mhcc.edu/music. A Peru­
vian buffet will be served in the lobby at 6:30 p.m.,
along with wine and beer. Buffet prices range from $5
to$10.

Annual Latino Culture Fest
Portland Community College is hosting its fourth
annual Semana de la Raza or "Week of the People"
festival, Monday, April 26 through Friday, April 30 at
the Rock Creek Campus.
The culminating event will be the Cesar Chavez
Evening of Excellence Celebration at 6 p.m., Friday,
April 30, in Room 114, Building 3.
Following the awards, there will be a performance
by the Latino theater group Teatro Milagro, featuring
its play, "American Sueno," followed by a discussion,
food and Salsa dancing.
Sem ana de la Raza is free and open to the public.
