H E ALTH MATTERS [ “PULSE
Be your best while beating stress!
Last week was a blast for m e! One
o f those weeks that you wish could
go on and on. Everyday there was
something new and exciting. A few
o f the more noteworthy things I
participated in were Start Making A
Reader Today at Irvington Elemen
tary and a charity bowling game,
“Soul Bowl to benefit Big Brothers, Big Sisters mentorship program. Both are great volunteer activities that
have a great impact on our youth. You should look into one or both. And at the end o f the week, a campaign
for projecting a positive and realistic image o f beauty; different women o f all shapes, sizes, and colors which
will be on display at Fez Studio in northwest Portland in the next couple o f months. Stay tuned for that. Everything
was fun and great, but you may notice that if your schedule is crammed, even with fun things, there is a certain
amount o f stress it adds to you mentally and physically. I was 100 percent sure that there was some way I could
have had more energy and feel less stress. O f course there is! It seems like to reach your highest level o f physical
and mental health and beauty, it always lead back to the food we put in our bodies. The food we eat has an effect
on everything we do- including stress! So Reach for these items next time you're feeling underpressure, under
the weather, or just too close to that breaking point. Munching on these stress-free foods will help pull you back
into the game.
