from Spain, France, and C anada.
Portland Hosts Comic’s Return
M artin L aw rence returns to his stand-up
roots w ith a one-night only appearance at K eller
A uditorium on T hursday, M arch 11 at 8 p.m.
A rguably one o f the m ost po p u lar and suc­
cessful com edians o f o u r tim e, L aw rence began
his career doing stand-up on the W ashington,
D .C. circuit parlaying his act into a 1983 ap p ear­
ance on “ Star S earch .” H e quickly becam e a
household nam e and a pop culture p h en o m ­
enon w ith the introduction o f the FO X TV
sitcom "M artin" w hich ran for five seasons from
1992 to 1997.
L aw rence has also accum ulated an im pres­
sive list o f m otion p icture credits, som e in clu d ­
ing Spike L e e ’s D o the R ight T hing, H ouse
Party 1 and 2, Boom erang, B ad B oys I and II, and
B ig M om m a's H ouse.
