That means going to school and getting an edu cation, not going to school to so cialize. I work hard at what I do so that 1 can make something o f myself. The reason why 1 strive for success is the fact that 1 have parents motivat ing me to do my best. 1 believe that if every child has some one to moti vate or push them to do the best they can do, they will make some thing o f themselves. If it w asn’t for my parents 1 probably wouldn't be where I'm at in life. I see how hard my dad David Miller, works with mentoring other youth about the importance o f edu cation and teaching them the motto o f Responsibility Accountability Productive “ R .A .P .” My mom LaToya Govan has taught me how to have a good work and study ethic, and to be a respectable young adult. With God who is the head o f my I life leading the way and shining his grace upon me I try to set an example by always doing and being a good person and 1 will continue on this path with G od’s love. As an older sister 1 am a role model for my younger brother. Knowing that little kids look up to me, makes me feel like I'm doing something right in my life. I’m not saying that teenagers can not have fun but with today’s society you have to work hard to achieve your goals and that means getting a good education. Some o f the things I do on my off time are volunteering and tutoring other students from middle school to high school. When 1 do stuff like that I feel like I’m helping others make something o f themselves. As a student at Benson High School, I ’m thinking about majoring in Health OC, w hich is a nursing program that Benson provides for their students as a career path. As a role model to younger kids, I try to teach them about the pres- Shakyla Mosley-Miller sures that are out there. For ex ample, the peer pressure to join gangs, pressure to do and sel 1 drugs, pressure to drop out o f school, ba sically to do the wrong things. But I want them to know that it is other directions that they can go in; just put God first and do what your par ents ask o f you. Shakyla Mosley-Miller is a per fec t 4.0 grade point average stu dent in her freshm an year at Benson High School.
