Weekend of MLK Service Projects
United Way leads effort
U nited W ay o f the C o lu m b ia -W illa m e tte ’s
M artin L uther K ing W eekend o f S ervice -
scheduled for Friday Jan. 15 through M onday,
Jan. 18 - has generated com m itm en ts from
m ore than 2.000 individuals volunteering to
help w ith m ore than 70 com m unity service
projects, a public w orks blitz that prom ises to
be the largest M LK W eekend o f S ervice in
the region.
T he event celebrates the legacy o f Dr.
M artin L uther King Jr. by providing
o pp o rtu n ities to w ork on “done-in-
a-d a y ” projects. From helping
co v er library books, serving
a m eal at senior center,
to planting trees at a
lo c a l
p a rk .
