Graffiti Inspired Artists
An exhibit o f graffiti-inspired artw ork is on
d isp la y at W a sh in g to n S tate U n iv e rsity
Vancouver though Sept. lO.The artw ork can
be seen in the A dm inistration building gal
lery and in the second-floor gallery space of
the E ngineering Life Sciences building.
Art collector Nancy M acklin organized the
exhibit from artists w orking in a variety of
m edium s: traditional spray paint, fused glass,
m ixed m edia, and pen and ink.
Som e o f the artists used the graffiti tradi
tion o f painting w ords in bold colors and styl
ized letters. O thers used a street-art sensibil-
ity in less traditional ways.
The artists include D enario Jenkins, Jer
em y Nichols and Josue Rodriguez, w ho show
in Portland-area galleries. Richard Jule, Andre
Sim ard and Stacy Sm ith collaborated on a
glass piece and are associated with Bullseye
G allery. Paul E strada and Jordan G uy are
em erging artists from G rant High School.
WSU Vancouver art galleries are open from
8 a.m. - 9 p.m. M onday through Thursday
and 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Friday. A dm ission is free.
Parking is available at parking m eters or in
the Blue Daily Pay lot for $3.
