2010 Mercedes-Benz GLK350W 4Matic
by
K athleen C arr
The 2010 Mercedes-Benz
GLK-Class is the first pre
mium com pact SUV from
this German manufacturer.
This 4-door wagon shares its
platform with the Mercedes-
Benz C-Class premium com
pact car. A single GLK35O
trim level is available with rear-
wheel drive or the company's
4Matic all-wheel drive.
The
2010
M ercedes
GLK35O is powered by a 3.5-
liter V6 good for 268 hp and
258 pound-feet of torque. A
seven-speed automatic trans
mission with comfort, sport
and manual settings is stan
dard. It’s most notable driv
ing characteristic is the rock-
solid feel of its chassis and
unibody construction over
every bump and road imper
fection. The GLK com es
standard with stability control,
an tilock disc brakes with
brake assist, front-seat side
airbags and side curtain
airbags. A rearview camera,
parking sensors and TeleAid
emergency telematics are op
tional.
The interior overall look
was lacking in appearance.
It has an entry level appeal

inch wheels, cruise control,
automatic headlamps, eight
way power front seats, MB

climate control, a power tilt
and telescoping steering col
umn, Bluetooth and an eight-
speaker stereo w ith a CD
player and an auxiliary au

package adds a panoram ic
sunroof, a pow er tailgate,
rain-sensing w ipers, auto-
dimming mirrors, driver seat
memory settings, a 115-volt
household outlet and satel

lite radio. The M ultim edia
package adds a hard-drive
n a v ig a tio n sy stem , the
COMAND interface, a rear
view cam era, and a s u r
round-sound system with 11
sp eak ers, in-dash six-C D
changer (available as stand
alone) and 6 GB of digital

running boards, an iPod in
terface and a rear-seat en
tertainment system with dual

The GLK35OW leaves me
with mixed feelings. It has
the precise and handling of a
Mercedes- Benz, but from the
side view of this view lacks
the premium style. It does not
stand out as a Mercedes the
look of it was just lacking
throughout the vehicle.
