He and his wife. Hazel Luter Feltus, Interna­ tional Supervisor Em eritus of the Women's Department, have a lifetime history in the C hurch o f God In Christ. Bishop Feltus is a renowned Bible scholar and an interpreter of sacred literature. His academic background includes, but is not limited to Xavier U niversity, Southern U niversity, American Bible College, Baptist Theo­ logical Seminary, Campbell College and University of Bible Studies. His life theme and motto is "Knowledge is the Key to Success.” Bishop Feltus’ call to preach the gospel came when he was 16 years old. He succeeded his father as pas­ tor o f the First Church o f God in Christ United in Louisiana at the age of 25, and is the current pastor at the age of 87. The Church of God in Christ United is an outgrowth of the Church of God in Christ. In 1953, Bishop Feltus was or­ dained as leader of the COGICU of British Honduras. Also, he has orga­ nized and planted numerous churches in Louisiana with new growth in Ja­ maica, England and Oregon. O ut­ reach is currently in process in Ha­ waii. Despite the obliterating impact of Bishop James Feltus Jr. Katrina, destroying COGIC United Headquarters, loss of churches, pas­ tors, and members. Bishop Feltus and his wife will visit Portland for the 32nd Regional Holy Convocation. The first family of the COGICU is expected on Wednesday, Oct. 22. Bishop Artice L. Wright and In tern atio n al S u p erv iso r o f the W om en’s D ep artm en t, M aggie Foxworth-Wright, will host the event. Bishop Wright, a native of Waverly, Fla. moved to Oregon in 1956. His higher education includes degrees from Portland State University, Port­ land Community College, as well as Feltus Theological Seminary where he was awarded the Doctor of Di­ vinity. Bishop Wright is a pillar in the Port­ land Community. He has pastured for 54 years, and on Tuesday, Oct. 21, he will be 86 years of age. He is currently 2nd Assistant to In­ ternational Presiding Bishop James Feltus, Jr. Four of the six recently commissioned bishops are from the Pacific Northwest Region under the leadership of Bishop Wright. Bishop Wright and International Supervisor of Women’s Department will host the 32nd Regional Holy Con­ vocation commencing Wednesday, Oct. 22 through Sunday, Oct. 26. Fellowship was so named by Dr. Pack when he received a vision to organize this church on Oct. 14, 1987 as he and a group o f believers met for a prayer meeting in a Masonic Lodge Hall. The weekend anniversary cel­ ebration theme was "Wait upon the L o rd .” (Isaiah 4 0 :3 1 ) Friday’s m essage "W ho Are You W aiting O n ?” was preached by Rev. Terrence Scott.
