Ecumenical Service Open to All
The second annual Drum
Major Ecumenical Service pay-
ing tribute to Rev. Martin Luther
King Jr., Coretta Scott King and
Rosa Parks will be held Sunday,
Jan. 20 at 3 p.m. at Vancouver
Avenue First Baptist Church.
Modeled after the MLK Cel­
ebration at the historic Ebenezer
Baptist Church in Atlanta,
Portland's service will recog­
nize four local individuals who
made important contributions in
the spirit of these three “Drum Rev. J.W. “M att" Hennessee
Majors" for civil rights.
O regon State Sen. Peter
Courtney is this year’s guest
speaker. Other local dignitaries
and members of the clergy will
share words of expression.
