Artists Call for Kwanzaa
The Interstate Firehouse
Cultural Center is celebrating
25 years of awakening cultural
awareness and honoring di
versity by e sta b lish in g a
Kwanzaa Marketplace during
the weeks surrounding the an
nual holiday.
The event from Nov. 29 to
Dec. 30 will serve as a desti
nation for artists and commu
nity to celebrate the rich diver-
sity of artistry that Portland has
to offer.
IFCC is inviting artists to bring
their crafts in to show and sell.
The theme surrounding the
market is one of Kwanzaa's
principles: Cultural Economics,
Ujamaa (oo-jah-m a), which
means, let's build and maintain
our own stores, shops and other
businesses and profit from them
together!
Pieces that include refer
ence to Kwanzaa, perhaps by
using some of the Kwanzaa
colors (green, black, red) or
symbols would be most wel
come.

ing part in this celebration, con
