Jon Ludwig's adoption of the classic tale dejights with the antics of the little wooden puppet who comes nose-to-wooden nose with some delightful characters: Fire Eater, the Blue Fairy, talking donkeys, the ill-fated Lampwick and a magical penguin. When Pinocchio finally frees himself from his masters, he can pursue the hope of becoming real. Made possible by a grant from the Jim Henson Foundation, Pinocchio features an ornate set that recalls traveling puppet the­ atres of old Italy in the 1880s. Performances begin Friday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Winningstad Theatre, Port­ land Center for the Performing Arts, 1111 S.W. Broadway, and repeat on Saturday, Nov.
