The Housing Authority of the City of Tacoma (“TH A’’) will receive
sealed bids for the infrastructure of Area 3 of the Salishan housing
area located between Roosevelt Avenue, East T Street, East 39th
Street, a nd -Ea st 44th S treet in Tacoma. The project involves
construction of right-of-way infrastructure, parks, site grading, and
drainages for a 50 acre mixed housing redevelopm ent. W ork
includes demolition and removal of existing city streets, sidewalks
and utilities, construction of city asphalt streets and alleys, concrete
sidewalk, curbs and gutters, storm drainage systems, bio-infiltration
p o n d s and s w a le s , s a n ita ry s e w e rs , w a te r m a in s , s tre e t
channelization and signing. W ork also includes m ass grading of
developed area, fine grading of interior lots, m odular block wall
design and construction, landscapingfor right-way and parks, park
construction, lot drainage, joint utility trench construction, and street
lighting. The infrastructure will support 368 hom es, all of which
will be constructed by others. Tim ing is critical in order to allow for
start of home construction by February 2008. The final constructed
site will provide Tacoma Housing Authority with approved city streets
