The Legacy:
A Gentlemen’s
Sport Sedan
by
K athleen C arr
Two years ago, Subaru moved
upscale with the Legacy sedans
and wagons. For 2007, the carmaker
hits its stride with premium tech
nology, including an upgraded
engine and a sporty new Legacy
GT Spec B. Subaru introduced the
Legacy GT Spec B in 2(X)6 as a
limited-production model, with only
5(X) scheduled for release. The rav
ing success of this launch prompted
Subaru to bring this beauty on in
full production for 2007.

engine has been upgraded to an

duction of a technology that's cur

Intelligent Drive (Si-Drive), it al
lows a driver to twist a knob to
select one of three engine perfor
mance levels: Intelligent (economy).
Sport (sport) and Sport Sharp (high
performance).
The Si-Drive influences horse
power, torque and throttle response,
but not turbocharger boost. Si-Drive
also changes the shift points. The
throttle response in Intelligent level
is quite soft, designed to make stop-
and-go driving smoother, but the
response gains power with the Sport
level. For the best throttle response,
kick the dial up to the Sport Sharp
level, the car zooms as if it had just
been kicked in the rear license plate;
not surprising considering it is an
instant addition of nearly 50-horse-
power.

Cancer Claims Trail Blazing Congresswomen
(AP) — Rep. Juanita Millender-
McDonald. who fought for electoral
reform and reached new heights for a
black congresswoman in seven terms
serving Southern California, died of
cancer Saturday. She was 68.
"Juanita Millender-McDonakl was a
trailblazer, always advocating for the
full participation of all Americans in the
success and prosperity of our country,"
House Speaker Nancy Pelos said in a
statement. "The dignity with which she
faced her illness was an indication of
the determination with which she al
ways served the people of her district."
Millender-McDonald represented a
heavily Democratic Southern Califor
nia di strict that i ncludes Compton, Long
Beach and parts of Los Angeles. This
year she became the first black woman
to chair the Committee on House Ad
ministration, which oversees operations
of the House and federal election pro

Dear Deanna!
My sister hates my boyfriend because she feels he
doesn’t treat me right. My boyfriend doesn’t like her
because he feels she is too nosey. They always
argue, try to embarrass each other and do dirty
things to each other. I'm at the breaking point after
my sister stole a check from his checkbook and
cashed it. On the other hand, my boyfriend told her
boyfriend that she was cheating. Where do I draw
the I ine with them before someone gets hurt? —Gina
