Chinese rod puppetry, an ancient art form.

Puppetfest on Saturday, April 28
from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at
Firstenburg Community Center, 700
N.E. 136th Ave. in Vancouver.
The performances are free, along
with some puppet-making activi­
ties foryoung children. A $5 work­
shop pass will be good for work­
shops teaching puppetry voice,
character-building and construc­
tion.
Puppetfest will also feature an
engaging lineup of performances.

featuring the Brian Ward Quar­
tet is coming to the Blue Monk,
3341 S.E. Belmont St., on Sat­
urday, April 28 at 9 p.m.
The band features Stu Cook
on drums and Al Criadoon bass,
and will feature Jim Pribbenow,
a sem i-regular on Tuesday
n ig h ts at the Blue M onk.
Pribbenow is one of the nation's
premier saxophonists.
The quartet, a tight band that
explores a lot of territory, will
perform m aterial developed
from their regular gig.
