Sinee moving to the New York area in 1999, Brown has gained a stellar reputation as one of the bright new talents on the scene, working with a w ho's who of jazz artists including Ray Charles, Benny Golson, David Sanborn, Antonio Hart, Javon Jackson and Roy Hargrove, and performing at ven­ ues ranging from New York's Blue Note jazz club, to the North Sea. Nice and Glasgow International Jazz Festivals. Now this talented saxophonist, drummer and com poser-and son of Portland drum legend Mel Brown— returns to Portland as the featured artist at the 3rd Annual Leroy Vinnegar Jazz Institute Young Artist Jazz.
