Jazz’s Patrick Lamb Returns to Delta Sound
Portland saxophonist Patrick
Lamb brings his roots of Missis­
sippi Blues full circle when he cel­
ebrates the release of his solo al­
bum "Soul of a Free Man,” Satur­
day, March 3 at 8 p.m. at the Aladdin
Theater, 3116 S.E. 11th Ave.
Lamb will join two up-and-com­
ing musical talen ts- Scott Fisher &
I a.m. Approach and soul song­
stress Li v Warfield - for one night
of jazz, blues soul and funk infu­
sion.
Having spent many years in the
Jazz world. Lamb is revisiting his
Southern roots. “Soul of a Free
Man" infuses the funk of James
Brown, the horn section of Tower
of Power, the soul of Sly & The
Family Stone and Lamb’s own mu­
sical voice to form a unique new
sound.
As an early developing musi­
cian. Lamb found himself touring all
over the Delta Belt and opening for
the likesofBB KingandTheTemp-
tations. He also played the old juke
joints and early morning jam ses­
sions at the Subway Lounge with
traveling musicians who wanted to
jam with the locals after a big gig.
Two years ago, Lamb began co­
writing with fellow musician Lee
Garrett, a co-writer and friend of
