Dad Charged in Using Stun Gun on Son
(AP) - An Albany father has
been arrested on suspicion of us­
ing a 100,(XM) volt stun gun on his
18-month-old son.
Investigators say the boy's 21-
year-old mother brought h i m to the
Albany Police Department Satur­
day. She told police that her hus­
band, 23-year-old Rian Whittman,
had been using a stun-gun device
on her son.
Police say they discovered
Whitman had used the stun-gun
many times on the toddler over
about a three-week period.
The child's injuries were treated
at Samaritan Albany General Hos­
pital. He was then taken into pro­
tective custody by the Department
of Human Services. The injuries
were not described as life-threaten­
ing or serious.
Albany Police arrested Whitt­
man on multiple assault charges.
