church and started singing in the
youth choir at an early age.
She was active in the Civil
Rights M ovem ent jo in in g her sis­
ter Sandra in W ashington D.C.

fam ous speech “I Have a D ream ”
in 1963. A fter the march on W ash­
ington, they attended the march
from Selm a, Ala. to M ontgom ery,
Ala. Both w ent to jail, w alked the
picket lines, were sprayed with a
fire hose, and played significant
roles in getting African A m eri­
cans registered to vote and cast­
ing ballots.
She met Joseph Davis and was
married in 1966, and to that union
two beautiful daughters were bom;
Victoria (Vickie) and Nedra in Port­
land, Ore. They attended St. Mark
Baptist Church where she was ac-
tive in thechoirand mission depart­
ment, under the leadership o f the
late Rev. Wilder. In the early 1990s
she united with New Hope Baptist
Church underthe leadershipof Rev.
RobertC. Jointer, then joined Fel­
lowship Baptist Church underthe
leadership o f Rev. Johnny Pack
IV, where she served faithfully
until her death.
She w as alw ays giving, run­
ning errands, cooking and tak­
ing care o f everyone. She never
could say no to anyone. She will
truly be m issed by all the lives that
she touched.
She was preceded in death by
her m other and a sister. Brenda
W ooding Jackson.
She leaves to cherish her m em o­
ries her father; two daughters; three
grandsons, Antonio Edward Davis,
TeonTrae' Davis, and Almari Sims;
stepchildren, Aubrey (Shari) Davis,
Reginald (M attie) Davis, Brenda
(Glenn) Derritt, Nathan Davis and
Courtney Davis; brother Norman
(Vanessa) W ooding III; four sis­
ters, Melody W ooding o f Seattle,
