K ing, the Oregon Food Bank is
hosting a volunteer event, Friday,
Feb. 24, at its food warehouse at
79(X)N.E. 33rd Drive.
The event begins w ith a recep
tion at 5 :3 0 p.m. From 6:30 to 8:30
p.m.. volunteers w ill repack bulk-
food donations into fam ily-size
portions fo r people w ho are hun
gry. To attend this special event,

Coretta Scott K ing, who died at
age 78 on Jan. 30, 2006, was the
widow o f the Rev. Dr. M artin Luther
K ing Jr. She became an interna
tional symbol o f the c iv il rights
revolution o f the 1060s and a tire
less advocate fo r social and p o liti
cal issues ranging from women’ s
rights to the struggle against apart
heid in South A frica.
She led the e ffo rt to establish
the federal h o lid a y honoring Dr.,
K in g , J r „ and established the
M a rtin L u th e r K in g Jr. C enter fo r
N on-V iolent Social Change, dedi
cated to scholarship and to a c tiv
ism.
The Oregon Food Bank is a non
pro fit, charitable organization. It is
the hub o f a statewide network o f
894 hunger-relief agencies serving
Oregon and C lark County, Wash.
