Brazil’s most popular contemporary
dance company, Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 7:30
p.m. at the Arlene SchnitzerConcert Hall.
The program will feature exhilarating
music by Cuban Ernesto Lecuona and
B razi 1 ian Caetano Veloso.
Grupo Corpo blends the rigor of clas­
sical ballet, the free inventiveness of
modem dance and the sinuous complex­
ity of Afro-Brazilian movement into a
dance language all its own.
Paulo Pedemeiras, artistic director and
Rodrigo Pederneiras, choreographer,
founded Grupo Corpo (literally "body
group”) in 1975, in northern Brazil’s Belo
Horizonte.
