Stidum will sing o f her purpose
as a visionary through the G lori­
ous Prophetic International M in­
istries. A uthor o f “Prophetic Po­
etry: From the F ath er's Heart to
Y o u rs ," S tid u m ’s m e ssa g e s
u n ity and harm ony are clear.
S h e 'll feature her new CD, “I’ll
Bow Down to W orship H im ,” at
the show.
Starting out as a 4-year-old
singing “Lord, D on’t M ove That
M ountain,” Stidum has a life­
long history o f devotion through
gospel music, with support from
a spiritual family.
“It m akes me feel complete
and inspired. It’s part o f me,”
Stidum said. “Singing, for me,
sends a m essage to feel it in their
h e a rt, to c o n n e c t w ith G od.
When I com e together to sing
for the m inistry, it’s a message
o f lo v e, e n c o u ra g e m e n t and
h o p e.”
M ore than 30 people from
different churches will be repre­
sented in helping the event come
together, from the ushers to the
m usicians.
“The
c o m m u n ity
and
churches need to work closer in
understanding diversity in our
com m unities,” she said.
Stidum g u arantees that ev ­
eryone that enters the doors o f
the church that night will be
welcom ed and treated well.
T he evening will be dedicated
to Unity o f Vision in the North­
w est.

Love is stitched into hundreds o f hand­
made crafts and gifts that will fill the tables of
the Providence Child C enter G uild ’s 55th an­
nual Holiday Bazaar, set for9a.m . to5 p.m. on
Friday, Nov. 11, in the main lobby o f Provi­
dence Portland M edical Center, 4805 N.E.
Glisan St.
This long tradition o f the guild dates back
to 1950, when the Sisters o f Providence oper­
ated one o f O regon’s first orphanages. O ur
Lady o f Providence Nursery. The sisters cared
for every child, regardless o f need, who cam e
to their door. The guild form ed initially to
support the work o f the orphanage.
“We were called 'm om m as’ by the ch il­
dren, said Eloise Savage, a 50-year guild
member. “We would take the children out to
stores w hen they needed new shoes or
clothes. We took them out for ice cream . We
took them to our homes for birthday parties
and H allow een.”
S avage’s eyes tw inkle as she recalls, “The
sisters wanted the children to know there was
another life out there - and we helped as best
we could.”
That charge from a h alf century ago still
stands today. The orphanage closed in the

Today the guild bazaar benefits the
young residents at the center. The pro­

Milton Ross Remembered
A homegoing celebration was
held Sept. 24 at Deuteronomy
B aptist C hurch in
Monroe, La. for Ned
Milton Ross, a Port­
land resident who
died Sept. 16 while
visiting family and
friends in Louisiana.
He was bom Oct.
12, 1931, the son of
Frank Ross and Amy
Tribble in Monroe.
He was a longtime
employee at Earl’s Barber Shop
on Northeast Alberta Street and
also worked for the Portland O b­
server newspaper.
He was preceded in death by
his mother and father: two sis­
ters, Lizzie Dawkins and Mabie
