In C h risto p h e r F a rle y ’s new
novel “K ingston by S tarlight,” he
tells a fictionalized version o f the
true story o f A nne Bonny, a w om an
w ho dressed as a m an in the early
1700s, becam e a pirate, and w as put
on trial for h er alleged crim es in
1721. Farley speculates about the
ties she m ight have had to A fricans
in her fam ily tree, also w eaving in
