W aterfront Blues Festival-G ram m y
award winning bluesman Buddy Guy,
legendary Chicago harmonica ace

Mavis Staples and Shemekia Copeland
will highlight the Safeway Waterfront
Blues Festival, Friday, July 1 to M on­
day, July 4 at Tom McCall Waterfront
Park, downtown. Admission is $5 per
person per day and two cans o f food
to benefit the Oregon Food Bank.
H istoric C a r Races — Hundreds of
historic race cars and hot rods, includ­
ing Jeff G ordon’s #24 Rainbow War­
rior, will be featured at Portland Inter­
national Raceway in a fundraiser for
the Children’s Cancer Association. The fun beings on July 8 and
continues through the July 10. Tickets range from $10-40 and can be
purchased at all Baxter Auto Part stores.
O thello - The Portland Actors Ensemble at the Lovejoy Fountain Park is
presenting The Shakespearean play Othello each Friday and Saturday at
8 p.m. until July 9. Bring a lawn chair or seating pad for comfort. The Park
is located between Lincoln and Harrison Street between First and Fourth
A venues.
Sponge Bob a t the Zoo - Now through Labor Day, the Oregon Zoo will
present Nickelodeon’s SpongBob SquarePants-the thrill ride. The cost
