Providence Milwaukie Diversity
Gallery will host a collection o f oil
and acrylic paintings by budding
Portland artist Sunshine Dixon.
The show draws on two themes,
“The W edding” and “ In the Be­
ginning.”
Dixon is fast becoming one of
Portland’s sought-after emerging
artists. Her powerful works repre­
sent the places where she’s lived,
worked, and played: the South;
northw estern cities, principally
Portland and Seattle; and the Ba­
hamas.
Religious subjects, jazz clubs
and w o m en a re o v e rla p p in g
themes in her work. Dixon also
makes foray into abstraction, with
dance association and themes of
motherhood. A portion of the pro­
ceeds from sales derived during
this exhibit will be donated to
Lynnette Jackson, founder o f In-
the-Loop e-new sletter and cancer
survivor, and the American Can­
cer Society.
A reception will be held with
Sunshine Dixon from 5 to 7 p.m. on
Thursday, June 16 at the Provi­
dence Milwaukie Diversity Gallery
in the Providence Milwaukie Hos­
pital. Live jazz will be performed by
N-Touch. The exhibit will show
until July 28.
