Jones recieved three major awards.
Jones received the Wexner Prize
from the W exnerCenter for the Arts,
a $50,000 prize given annually to a
major contemporary artist who has
been consistently original, influen­
tial, and challenging to convention.”
He also received the Harlem Re­
naissance A w ard at the Aaron
Davis Hall. On July 17, he will be
h o n o red w ith the p re stig io u s
$35,000 Samuel H. Scripps/Ameri-
can Dance Festival Award.

ing from,” Jones said. “I feel like my

The awards all resonate in differ­
ent ways, Jones said. He is excite­
ment about being acknowledged
by the Harlem community, where he
hopes to establish a permanent
