Ebony Fashion Fair
is Living It Up
Event raises money for local scholarships
Clothes have everything to do with
attitude, both o f yourself and those
around you. W alk out into a party dressed
in your dullest gray outfit and no am ount
o f dancing or drink will make you feel
" better. But go out on the town in sparkling
textures and color, and yo u ’ll feel like a

m illion bucks.
T he Ebony Fashion F air has been c e l­
eb ra tin g the p h enom ena o f glam o u r since
1958, and co n tin u es w ith the ex c itin g , tra v e l­
ing fashion show . T he them e fo r the 47th
e x tra v a g a n za is “ L iving It U p,” featu rin g d e­
signs from w orld fam ous d e sig n e rs such as
G iv en ch y , O scar de la R enta, Bob M ackie,
C h ristia n L aC roix, H anae M ori, and black d e ­
sig ners F u sh a and K ate M ack.
The provocative styles will be featured on 13
m odels, including 11 gorgeous women (one full-
figured) and tw o men who are very easy on the
eyes.
This year’s show proves that dark colors are

out the door, with bold, bright and contrasting
colors making a com eback to uplift moods and
turn heads. Sim plicity is no longer the answer,
either, with decorative, elaborate accessories
from broaches and bracelets.
Proceeds from previous show s made it pos­
sible to give over 85 scholarships to outstand­
ing seniors throughout the Portland area. The
goal this year is to raise $30,000 for the schol­
arship fund.

The event will be held Friday, April 15 at
8 p.m. at the O regon C onvention Center. For

Nordstrom Rack Gets A Makeover
Nordstrom Rack, the clearance
center o f fine retailer Nordstrom is
at a new downtown location. The
store is on two levels in the ODS
Tower on Southwest Second Av­
enue, twice the size of the old loca­
tion on Fourth and Morrison and
only two blocks away.

comes from the Nordstrom stores
and website but at savings o f up to
75 percent off of regular prices.

location originally opened in 1986
was an underground store and a
new look was way over due. The
new store at the ODS tow er not
only looks more appealing but is
also brighter.
“ W e are th rille d to have
Nordstrom Rack at the ODS Tower,"
said Greg Johnson, president of
Wright Runstad and Company, co­
owner and property manager of the
building. “We think Nordstrom
Rack will be a welcomed addition to
our tenants and the new store will
only enhance Portland’s growing
retail core.”
There are 49 Nordstrom Racks in
the country, including one across
from the Clackamas Town Center.
