Soprano Gail Strong-Price will per­
form in the Vancouver Children’s
Opera Company’s holiday produc­
tion of Engelbert Humperdinck’sop-
era, “ Hansel and Gretel.”
Strong-Price and Loti ChVistensen,
another opera singer, founded the
company in April 2000 to share their
love tor opera, education and classi­
cal music.
"We have performed for about
4,(M)0 students in Washington and ,
it's been very well received by ev- I
eryone who has seen it,” said Strong-
Price. “It’s an excellent production
and we look forward to doing lots
more productions for students and
for parents.”
The goal of the opera company is
to introduce young people to the
classical repertoire by educating, en­
couraging and nurturing in them an
appreciation for opera and classical
music through performances and to
enhance music program s within
Vancouver and Portland school dis­
tricts.
