Emotional Beginnings
The Forsaken Flower by Dee
Williams takes place in Philadel
phia, exploring the heartache and
hardshipof four sisters whose lives
have been forever changed by what
many may see as being an unforgiv
able sin.
W illiams’ first published novel,
stirs up familiar emotions of her
early childhood, making it a must
read to those whoenjoy the mixture
of fiction and reality.
The story begins with the unex
pected suicidal death o f the girls’
mother. The youngest daughter
Angel, at the age of six, begins a
quest way beyond her years, with
out direction or support.
At age 15, now a young lady,
Angel needs what only a m other
can give. D espite her deliberate
attem pts to portray a tough de
meanor, sh e 's scared and vulner
able. W hat each sister indepen
dently experiences is nothing less
than insane. Professional careers,
new rom ances, nothing can cam
ouflage the hurt from way deep
within.
Dee W illiams is an African-
American busi ness owner and pub-
lished author of poetry. She enjoys
