I think my daughter is stealing from

of nowhere. I know the parents o f her

and what do I do if it’s true. —Anony

percent of ballots received.
Since the primary election in May,
Multnomah County has gained 67,555 new
voters, increasing from 360,000 to427,555.
In Novem ber 2000, Democrats in the
county com posed 49 percent o f registered
voters and 24 percent were Republicans.
Currently, 49.5 percent o f voters are regis
tered Democrats and 22 percent are regis
tered Republicans.
Nationally, Democrats appear to be gain
ing the upper hand in the battle to sign up
new voters in the all-important swing states,
an Associated Press analysis suggests.
The AP analysis o f the most up-to-date
figures from across the country found
that, in every state where com plete data is
available, the Democrats have registered
more new voters than Republicans. They
have the edge in Arizona, Iowa, New
Mexico, Nevada and New Hampshire.
O nly in Florida is the story different.
R egistration tallies from m ore than h alf
the counties show that the R epublicans
and the D em ocrats are virtually tied in
the race to increase th eir share o f voters
in the state that decided the presidential
election four years ago. "W e ’re living
p o litics rig h t now , ev ery w h ere you
tu rn ,” said K evin G lat, a u d ito r in
B urleigh C ounty, N.D. “ It was such a
close race four years ago that people are
finally com ing to the realization that
every vote does co u n t.”
If your gut instinct is say ing your daugh
ter is a thief, then you’re right. Get your
Bible and give her a refresher course on
Exodus 20; 15 which says thou shall not
steal. Then make a visit to the county jail
so she can get a first hand look at what
happens when people get caught steal
ing. Between G od’sw ord and the reality
o f jail, I think she’ll get the picture and
keep her hands to herself.
Your dad needs to quit tripping over the
color thi ng. Y ou’ re a wel I - rounded person
and h e's taught you well. You should feel
com fortable enough to point out his racist
areas at the moment h e’s acting this way.
The world will always have a rainbow of
people and if he can’t accept it. then he
needs to get over it. This process is a
continued work just like w e’re still looking
for world peace and the cure for cancer.
Dear Deanna!
I m indlessly picked up the N ational
Enquirer and saw an article about Halle
Berry writing your column. I’ve seen maga-
zines were she said she’s tired o f being
hurt or she’ll never marry again. I’m a
middle-aged white guy and it breaks my
heart to think she’s not being adorned
with attention, affection and genuine love.
She could be a mean spirited nag, but
she’s so beautiful I can’t imagine that.
Should you talk to her again, tell her that
her work is stellar, her style is ti meless and
her existence has filled me with delight
every time I see her in film or print. God
bless both o f you. -J im ; Dallas
Dear Jim:
Dear Deanna!
In today’s time, it’s good to see a white
man also support and embrace two posi
tive black women that are trying to handle
th eir b usiness. Y our com m ents and
thoughts are on point with the rest o f the
world as it pertains to Ms. Berry and the
Enquirer article. Thanks for the love and
support.
My dad ’s a kind-hearted man always
looking for ways to help people. How
ever, he’s prejudiced. When 1 date out
side the race I have to do it behind his
back because he gives me a hard time.
