Portland State knocked off the
12th ranked McNeese State Cow
boys Saturday in a game marred by
penalties and ineffective quarter
back play.
The Cowboys, who entered the
game with a 2 -1 record, struggled to
move the ball in the first half with
the Viking defense equally effec
tive in stopping the rush and pres
suring the quarterback.
"T his win gets us on the map
and if people d o n ’t recognize it
tonight we have eight more weeks
to do it," said Head C oach Tim
W alsh. “It was a great challenge
for us tonight and to see us play
with the spirit we had is great for
our program .”
The V ikings im proved their
record to 2-1. The team will open
Big Sky Conference play Saturday
at PGEPark with Eastern W ashing
ton and a 6:05 p.m. kick-off.
