Annual event celebrates
culture with recycling theme
Creative energy will pulse through
Alberta Street at the fifth annual Art
Hop, celebrating the art and culture
of a vibrant northeast Portland com
munity on May 15.
The festival features music, danc
ing, theater, art and great food en
joyed by participants throughout
Portland.
Many events center around the
theme 1001 Ways that Recycled Ma
terials Become Art.
A community parade and interac
tive mural painting will also enter
tain and invigorate adults and chil
dren alike.

The Art Hop will also feature
displays and demonstrations by
the artists o f Cracked Pots and
artists displaying work tailored
from com puter parts and dis
carded furniture.
A new mural will be debuting
on Northeast 22nd and Alberta
Street, created by well known
Portland artist Tom Cramer.
The festival is from 11 a.m .toô
p.m. on May 15 and the parade
begins at 2 p.m. at St. Andrews
Church and marches east to North
east 30“' and Alberta.
