Valedictorian, Loving Father Remembered
Paul A. M arshall

Nov. 7 at the age o f 47.
He w as bom in P ortland on D ec. 5, 1955, the
fourth son o f Dr. John D. and V iola M arshall. He
w as the 1974 valedictorian graduate o f John
A dam s H igh School in northeast Portland and
received his B achelor o f Science degree in biology and black studies
from Portland State U niversity.
He w orked for IBM for over 17 years and was a m em ber o f Em nudtuel
T em ple C hurch w here he served faithfully for 23 years.
A loving husband and dedicated father. Paul w as com m itted fajnily
m an; he enjoyed spending most o f his tim e w ith his wife and ¡four
children. Being a very know ledgeable individual, Paul enjoyed stiidy-
ing history and w as avid reader. A m em ber o f the A lbina R otary, he
served on the Board o f D irectors o f A lbina C om m unity Bank, St. M ijry’s
A cadem y and the O regon D evelopm ental D isabilities Council.
He believed in serving hischurch and community. He was the managing
director o f the Renaissance Market, associate director o f the Black IJiiited
Fund and C hairm an Emeritus o f Emmanuel C om m unity Services.
H e w as preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law C harles
Stew art o f N ew York.
He leaves to cherish his m em ories, his w ife o f 22 years, Arlgne;
daughters, Stacey M arie, C harlotte Anne and Lindsay Imani an d son
Paul A ndrew Jr., all o f Portland; brothers, John and Robert o f PoaJand,
Steven and w ife M argaret o f S cappoose, and M ichael and wife U tufa
o f Salem ; sister M arjorie o f Portland; m other-in-law Mrs. C leo Ste^vaji

Morning Star Baptist Church, 106 N.E. ivy St. Mrs. Edwards gave credit to Mrs. O.B. Williams of Portland, the church group's past
president, for being her role model and mentor. Mrs. Williams was also honored during the Nov. 14 ceremony.
