Alberta Art Hop

The Alberta Art Hop is a one-day
festival to celebrate the arts and culture scene in
the vibrant Alberta Street Community. On Satur
day, May 10 the street will open up for music,
dancing, theater, art and great food. There will be
art exhibitions, a shrine contest, live music, a
parade and hands-on art projects for adults and
children. Volunteers, artists and performers are

The Oregon Humane Society has put a new twist
on on-line personals. With just two clicks, those
looking fora loving pet can find it with the dog, cat,
rabbit or rodent o f their choice by logging on to

available for adoption at the northeast Portland
shelter and read pet profiles that are expanded

credit lecture series that explains how natural
medicine can help you rely on wholesome cures
to prevent illnesses as well as heal them. Naturo
pathic physician Dr. Suzanne Lawton will lead a
series o f six lectures during which students can
discover practical, safe and natural approaches
that can be incorporated into the home. Each
lecture will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Ladybug Nature Walks
Parents can discover the natural world with their
pre-schoolers every Friday at 10 a.m. at Hoyt
Arboretum. A naturalist will hand out magnifying

parks. There is a $2 charge for each child, but
adults are free.

reopening o f the Patton Home Kitchen as a

Earth Day Garden Party, Tuesday, April 22.

Timeless Treasures Benefit
Area residents can bring one antique collectible
to the Elders in Action Timeless Treasures
benefit on Wednesday, April 30 and have it
appraised by a professional to find out if it is
treasure or trash. The event will be held at the
Cascade Crest Banquet Center at the Oregon
Zoo Rotunda. The cost for the benefit is $30 for
seniors and $50 for general admission which
includes a buffet dinner and live music.
