This is normal for us,” ’ he said. When Flowers opened his prac­ tice, his African-American client base was low and slow coming. “Had it not been for the white community. I’d be out o f busi­ ness,” he said. According to Flowers, it took a bit m o re tim e to teach chiropractics to local African Americans. He took a cue from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and evan­ gelized. He taught seminars at churches and community centers, and took out educational ads in local newspapers.
