‘Lovers Do’ Keeps Lovers Together
Singers Kenny Lattimore and Chanté Moore promote album, play
(A P)— Singers Kenny Lattimore
and Chanté Moore have built their
careers on songs about romance.
Now the husband-and-wife team
hasjoined forces toexplore "Things
That Lovers Do" through an album
and a play with that title.
The couple, who have been mar
ried a little more than a year, have
recorded an album com posed
mainly o f classic R&B duets, and
the play, directed by Tony Award-
w inner George Faison, includes all
the album 's songs plus some of
their signature tunes.
Lattimore says he's excited be
cause this is the fust time an R&B
act has used starring roles in a play
to launch a new album, though sev
eral acts have worked their hits into
stage productions.
Lattimore and Moore say the
play, which tells the story o f two
singers destined for one another
but dealing with twists and turns
aloqfg the way, has some personal
touches but shouldn’t be construed winding up in Chicago. After that,
as their life stories. It has, however, the couple plans to take time to
allowed them to stay together while have the baby, then possibly do
they count down to the delivery of a concert tour in late summer and
their first child together in April.
a West ( ’oast swing with the play
‘‘A lot of couples in the industry in the fall.
know music takes you away from
one another,” Moore says. “The
fact that we get to do this together
is really great because it bonds our
family together”
The play is now in Atlanta and
will stop in several cities before
