sponsor its annual Pacific Youth
Cam p.
T he cam p will provide 25 at-
risk youth, ages 8 to 11-years-
old w ith a w eeklong outing at
the O regon C oast at no cost to
them . They will participate in a
variety o f positive experiences
th a t w ill h e lp them id en tify
strengths and create m em ories
that can positively im pact their
lives forever.
M ost o f the cam p’s youth are
recruited from inner-city elem en
tary sch o o ls and are re c o m
m ended by school staff.
RISK w ould like to extend
the opportunity to the com m u
nity to sponsor one or m ore
youths for this special event. The
cost is $150 per child.

cal conflicts of today. In Feiler’s words: “the

details and embrace the spirit of Abraham, we

books, Feiler has been a writer for “The New
Yorker,” “The New York Times Magazine,”
“The Washington Post,” “The New Republic

“Abraham: A Journey to the Heart of Three
Faiths,” Bruce Feiler offers a winning combi
nation of history, travel and spiritual memoir.
On Thursday, October 24 at 7:30pm, The
Center for Spiritual Development presents a
lecture with Bruce Feiler, award-winning jour
nalist and speaker, and the New York Times
best-selling author of five books, including
“Walking the Bible; A Journey by Land
Through the Five Books of M oses.”
Feiler will be speaking on his research
for his latest book on Abraham , the tradi
tional father o f the three great m onotheistic
religions: Judaism , Christianity and Islam.
M oved by the tragedy o f Septem ber 11th,
Feiler sought out religions scholars to help
him understand who Abraham was and how
each of the three religions have interpreted
Abraham over time.
